About HEARTLISTENER

Heartlistener (Hardcore/Metalcore, Ponta Grossa – PR) began its activities in 2018. Their first release was the EP “Inner Self” (2019). In 2020 the band released the single “Intangible Lines”, featuring Garret Rapp from The Color Morale (Rockford – Illinois, USA), as well as the acoustic version of the song “Nowhere”; thus ending the cycle of the first EP. Genres such as hardcore, post hardcore and metalcore marked the band's sound aesthetic during this period. The band's sound is characterized by its fast pace, aggressive and melodic guitars and aggressive vocals that convey a melancholic, yet hopeful message. Their music has a great source of inspiration from bands such as Counterparts, The Ghost Inside, Defeater, More Than Life, and many others in the Metalcore and Hardcore scene.

In 2021 the band started a new cycle with the release of the singles “Counterfeit”, “Wolf Among Us”, “Dreamweaver”, “False Prophets” and “All the Art of Living Lies in a Fine Mingling...” which are part of their most recent album “Perspectives” (2022), released on January 21st.

The album follows the line of melodic hardcore, flirting with metalcore. “Perspectives” deals with intrapersonal issues, such as impostor syndrome and grief, and interpersonal issues, such as the country's socio-political problems. The album consists of 10 songs, with the participation of Caio Weber (Cefa), on the track “Violeta”, the band's first song in Portuguese.

Production and recordings were carried out between December (2020) and March (2021) by Renan Malaquias (Heartlistener), and the album was mixed and mastered by Lucas Guerra (Colid) at Estúdio Guerra.

After the release of their latest single "Cult of Violence" (2024), the band continues working on new songs that will be released during the first half of 2025, with a new album expected to be released at the end of the year.

The band has had the opportunity and pleasure of sharing the stage with great bands within the scene such as Pense, Axty, Menores Atos, Surra, Sugar Kane, John Wayne and Cefa, in addition to having performed in cities such as Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, Ponta Grossa, Maringá, Londrina and Blumenau.

Heartlistener is Gustavo Martins (vocals), Renan Malaquias (guitar), André Neto (bass) and Ricardo Malaquias (drums).
